Valldemossa - A place of stories between the mountains

There is not much land in-between the Sierra de Tramuntana on Mallorca and the Mediterannean Sea but on this small strip of land, hidden in a green valley, you will find this little picturesque town that remains one of the most popular tourist destination in the whole of the Balearic Islands. Welcome to Valldemossa.

Montserrat - The navel of Catalonia

Hello fellow travelers,
I am bringing you love this time from a piece of often overlooked place, which by my opinion, may be a real jewel of Catalonia, and quite frankly, maybe Spain as a whole. People often visit Barcelona, go sightseeing, shopping, drinking or spend their time there god knows how, not knowing that there is this hidden treasury hiding from them in the plain sight just outside the city limits.
Welcome to Montserrat.

Petra - Legacy of an ancient civilisation (and The Last Crusade)

Once upon a time, there were seven wonders of the world. And then, history happened and most of them got destroyed. And because humanity is the kind that doesn't let go, a few years ago a large survey was run in order to determine what the "new seven wonders" were. And then a couple of other lists followed. Let's venture together to the one place that does appear in nearly all of them. Welcome to Petra.

Brno - the Moravian capital

Did you know that while the official language of the Czech republic is Czech, there is an area where you may hear a langugae completely different from most czech dialects. Welcome to the city of "hantec", a weird unique slang language inspired by Czech, German and Jiddish. And also, welcome to the Czech second most populous city and a metropolis of Moravia, the eastern half of the Republic. Long live Brno.

Istanbul - The gateway to Asia - TOP 5 Tourist Attractions

Hello, citizens of Earth,

while there was a long period of the so called Dark Ages roaming in the West, the East had kept growing in its beauty, culture and glory for another thousand years, practically never knowing the Middle Ages as we know from Europe. Nothing represents the awing glory of the Eastern Roman Empire more than this pearl, its capital. Constantinople, built by the Roman emperor Constantine on the shore of the Bosphorus strait, right on the crossroads where Europe and Asia, and also the West and the East meet. Welcome to Istanbul.

Sofia - Useful Info

Hello, citizens of Earth.
So let's talk traffic. Usually when you think about traffic in the Balkans, you imagine these congested streets full of honking cars from the 70s. Not so much in Sofia. It will sound a bit bias, but I was actually really surprised how Central European the city felt. So let's dive in and take a look at some more useful info about Sofia.

Sofia - TOP 5 Tourist Attractions

Hello, citizens of Earth :)
My apologies for not posting for such a long time, but it was a really busy month. I am back now and bring you the newest report from the Balcans.
Imagine you were a king a country and get exiled when a communist revolution takes place. You wait years and years abroad and when liberty finally returns to your country, you return home only to find a newly formed republic that doesn't have a place for its former king. What do you do? Well you can follow the example of the former Bulgarian king Simeon and get elected as the country's prime minister? Impossible? Well welcome to Bulgaria and its glamorous capital, Sofia.

Skopje - The city of bridges

Hello citizen of the Earth,
Almost two millenia ago, the Romans created a little settlement on the banks of the Vardar river and started long centuries of history of what is now considered as one of the most exotic European capitals. Large Paris-like marble buildings dominating the riverside, hundreds of statues of famous people of the Macedonian past, old bazaar with its Ottoman style mosque, orthodox churches and quantity of socialist brutalist megastructures - all of that squeezed in a very compact area commemorating all of the past rulers of the land, Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans and Soviets - welcome to Skopje, the capital of Macedonia.

Bratislava - Vienna's little sister

It is like crossroads of three worlds. The medieval town meeting art noveau city boulevards in Vienna style all covered in a shell remembering the times of the socialist brutalism. Once a Hungarian capital and coronation city, later moved to the periphery of the Empire's main events, only recently rediscovered as the majestic capital of independent Slovakia. Welcome to Bratislava.

Tel Aviv - Between the East and the West

Welcome to the city of contrasts. Some call it the LA of the Mediterranean for some it's a continuously inhabited ancient harbor taking on more or less western habits. Either way, the city of Tel Aviv is one of the most interesting cities in the Middle East and for most the main gateway to the State of Israel. Welcome to Tel Aviv - Yafo.

Venice - A former Mediterranean superpower

Long after Rome fell and long before Italy rose, there were many small countries across the Apeninne peninsula and none of them had become as powerful and as well known as the little trade harbor built inside the lagoon in the north of the Adriatic sea. A town that thanks to its location and layout became a symbol for generations, resulting in nicknaming various cities and towns across the globe as "Venice of" - Welcome to Venice of Venice!

Kyiv - Into the West?

Hello there, fellow travelers,
Long before there ever was Russia as we know it, there was Kyiv. Housing generations of princes and dukes in the fortress on the bank of the Dnipro river, this city has been the centerpiece of a once great empire the Kievan Rus, the very first east slavic country to ever exist. It was here where the ancient East Slavic expansion began and spread throughout the whole territory from eastern Poland to Alaska. Today the city and its peoples are trying to move further west. Will they? And can they? Let's find out. Welcome to Kyiv.

Segovia - A piece of Rome in Spain

Hello there :)
Did you know that if you wanted to see one of the most preserved Roman aqueduct, you would actually have to leave Italy for a bit and take a trip to the Hispanic peninsula. For only here you can find this marvelous piece of ancient architecture that not only stands as landmark on its own, but also serves as the main motive on the town's coat of arms and influences the whole country to that degree that almost all bridges in Spain are named after it - and I am not even exaggerate that much - only in Madrid itself, you can find two. Welcome to Segovia :)

Neuschwanstein Castle - The inspiration for Disney

Did you know there actually is a physical manifestation of all the Disney-like fairy-tale castles? And no, I'm not talking about Disneyland. This one was once really inhabited and for about 150 days even served as a royal residence. Let's visit together one of the most famous European castles, the primary example of historic romanticism, originated in the head of one insane king about one and a half centuries ago. Welcome to Neuschwanstein.

Bruges - Brugge - the Belgium's pearl

Hello there :)
Funny thing about Belgium. Although the most visited place in the country is its Capital of Brussels, sometimes I guess the only reason for it is that there are the country's only international airports - Brussels and Charleroi and most people think they just should see the city when there. But if you are looking for a real hidden treasure in this West European country, take a short bus/train trip and visit this beautiful town, sometimes nicknamed as the "Venice of the north" - welcome to Bruges.

So let's talk traffic. To be honest when talking about Bangkok, one always ends up somehow talking about the traffic. The truth is, on the first glance, it looks like a total chaos. Ten cars on a five line highway, supported by thousand of tuk tuks and motorbike riders probably attemting suicide, all of that controlled by obsolete traffic lights and city police. Berlin - The Tale of the two cities - TOP 5 Tourist Attractions

Hello guys :)
You know, there are many cities that are somehow divided, displaced in more than one country, some even in more than one continent, but the story of none of them is more touching than the story of the main stage of the world theatre in the 20th century - Berlin.
It is strange... The city does not belong among the most beautiful, it even isn't one of the most ancient, not even in Germany, but the history that was being written here is today part of the breathtaking genius loci of the place. Twice plans for a world war were being assembled here, plans for urban reconstruction of never before seen proportion were being created here and for the next 40 years the city became the symbol of the divided world.
Welcome to Berlin.
