Milano - TOP 5 Tourist attractions

Hello, greetings from Lombardy. Today I am bringing you some of the most iconic places you can find in Italy's second largest city, sometimes described as world's fashion capital - Milano. Are you interested which places in this city attract the most tourist and what you definitely shouldn't miss while there? Then follow the link bellow to the newest article! :)

1/ Il Duomo
Well, probably the most iconic and well known building in the whole city is the Milano Cathedral, also known Il Duomo, the Dome. It is the largest church in Italy and the third largest in the world. It is also the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. It took almost six centuries to finish it. You can buy admission to the cathedral itself for 3 EUR or combine it with the entrance to the rooftop terrace (which i highly recommend, for the views of the city's panorama with the Alps in the background is breathtaking). The pass for the cathedral, rooftop and the Duomo museum costs 12 or 16 euro depending whether you want to climb the stairs or take the lift up. But honestly, 4 euro for a lift? Seriously?
The Dome opens at 8 AM, the terrace at 9 and the museum at 10. And seriously, even outside the season, come as early as possible if you want to avoid the endless queues.

2/ Santa Marie delle Grazie
Probably the tourist point number two. Even though this church is beautiful on its own, it is not the building itself that draws the millions of tourists every year. For it is here, where the original of Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper dwells. If you want to try to discover if Dan Brown was onto something, or just enjoy the view of one of the world's most famous piece of art, the entrance fee is 10 euro and you can spend 15 minutes with the painting. And don't forget to book in advance. Especially during the high season, the reservations are fully booked months before.

3/ Castello Sforzesco
The Sforza castle is one of many city's landmarks.  Built in the 15 century by the Duke of Milan on the remnants of the older fortification. In the 16th century, it belonged among the largest citadels in Europe. Today, it houses several city's art collections and museums. Whether you want to have a cultural experience in one of these or just enjoy a piece of some solid architecture, the castle is definitely worth your while.

4/ Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
This world's oldest shopping mall houses dozens of shop featuring the most valued and ridiculously overpriced brands you can possibly imagine. If you wanna go shopping or just enjoy this architectural marvel of its time, the glas-and-iron rooftop with majestic dome in the middle and four story arcades, you probably shouldn't miss this place.
And if you are in luck and visit the city just before Christmas like me, enjoy the decorations. Doesn't it feel like a fairy tale? :)

5/ Porta Sempione
Once a proper city gate, now serves as an entrance to one of the most famous public parks in Milano - the Semplon Park. It is marked now by a large triumphal arch called Arco della Pace "Arch of peace" that serves as one of the iconic selfie musts. The 25 meter high neoclassical monument is a landmark on its own, but while you're there, don't forget to have a pleasant walk through the park. .)
