Hi guys :)
I am back and as promised, I am bringing the first of many travel guides. I was thinking a lot which city or place I should take first and the longer i thought about it, the clearer it became. There is only one place I could start with - the city I call home - the capital of the Czech republic, Prague.
There will be more articles to come, describing what to do or not to do in this amazing old city, but for starters, let me introduce it a little and present the TOP 5 places you should definitely visit.
As stated above, Prague is the capital of the Czech republic and is situated right in the heart in Europe, not far from other major European cities like Berlin, Munich or Vienna. Since I live and work here, it is not really a travel destination for me (no, I guess taking the tram number 3 to the city center doesn't qualify as travelling :D ) but I was thinking, well, 99,999% of the people on Earth do not live here, so, why the heck not.
Soo, what is all the fuzz about? Why is Prague so popular and what can offer its visitors? Here are 5 TOP things you should see while visiting Prague:
1/ The Prague Castle
The ancient seat of the Dukes and Kings of Bohemia and a few times also Holy Roman Emperors and lately presidents of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic, the Prague castle is THE place you want to see when visiting Prague.
You can visit several palaces, feel astonished by art of all the cultural and architectonic styles throughout centuries, among others the Romanesque St. George Basilica with the convent, gothic St. Vitus Cathedral with the tomb of many of bohemian rulers and the main tower accessible for a small fee to offer breathtaking view of the old parts of the city, or the Golden Lane, a picturesque old street full of small dwellings, the last remnant of small scale architecture in Prague. Don't miss the modern architectural modifications made by Slovenian architect Joze Plecnik for the first Czechoslovak president Tomas Garrigue Masaryk.

2/ The Charles Bridge
If you are looking for the one tourist spot in the city, visit the Charles Bridge (Karlův most). Do you want a drawing or a caricature of yourselves? Do you want to listen to a masterpiece of a czech street violoncellist or just taste a traditional Trdelnik which Prague adopted as its nr. 1 tourist snack even though its origins lie somewhere in Hungary, or just simply have a romantic walk with your partner with the view of all the tourist attractions, this is the place for you to be.

3/ Vyšehrad
Usually standing aside and forgotten by the tourists, the Vyšehrad hill is one of the most romantic places in Prague. It is situated a little further from the city center, towering high above the Vltava river. It is one of the most significant places in Czech history - according to a legend, an ancient bohemian duchess Libuše prophesied here the future grandeur of the city and the czech nation in general. You can find here the majestic St. Peter and Paul Basilica, famous Vyšehrad cemetery where many of famous czechs found their final resting place, not to mention beautiful view of the river and city from the 17. century fortification walls.

4/ Petřín hill and observation tower
A nearly 65 metre-tall lookout tower that resembles the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris rises high above the Petřín hill and offers amazing views of the Prague castle and the old parts of the city that surround it. You can take the elevator or just climb up 300 stairs and enjoy the view. And don't forget to take a selfie :D
The park around the tower is well known for the popularity among couples that tend have their romantic getaways here. So grab someone's hand and up to Petřín!
Don't forget to take the funicular up or down the hill for it's an interesting experience and it is included in your public traffic tariff - so, no need to buy separate ticket.

5/ the Old Town Square and Astronomical Clock
The centerpiece for all tourists heading to Prague is for sure the Old town square with the remains of the Town Hall. Only here you can find the famous Prague Astronomical Clock, one of the most iconic attractions of Prague and the Czech Republic a probably the most well known Astronomical Clock in the world. Every hour hundreds of observers watch Apostles and other moving sculptures, most notable the Death (that obviously visited Prague on his weekend getaway from the Discworld).
